AKC certified Canine Good Citizen...

  • The Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners and stresses responsible pet ownership.
  • All dogs that pass the 10-step CGC test are eligible to receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club (AKC).
  • The CGC program lays the foundation for other activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and therapy work.
  • Many dog owners complete CGC training and testing as a prerequisite to therapy dog certification.
  • Dogs that have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with; they respond well to household routines and have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs.
  • The CGC program is one of the most rapidly growing programs in the American Kennel Club (AKC). The program is already having a positive impact and assures that the dogs we love will always be welcomed, well respected members of our communities.

All shapes, sizes, levels, and breeds of dog are welcome. For more information on the Canine Good Citizen® program, check out: www.akc.org/events/cgc.

Terrific Teens is the next step for your confident KinderPuppy grad. They'll go from the ABC's to the 3 D's--Distance, Duration, and Distraction, the basis for advanced doggy education.

You may notice that your dog is starting to grow up... and becoming a teenager in a dog's life can be a trying time in your dog - human relationship. A dog's adolescence is the time when everything starts to fall apart, unless you make a concerted effort to see it through to the stability of adulthood. You may have already noticed that his attention skills are changing. All of a sudden he won't come, won't sit, won't settle down and stay, but instead jumps up, pulls on-leash, and becomes hyperactive... Yes, you are experiencing puppy puberty!

This class will give you new skills to cope with this stage of life. In this basic manners course we teach attention, walking nicely on leash, come when called, sit, and down, and then put them together into useful real life applications.

For a teenage dog, the world is full of temptation and distraction and in this class you'll learn the following:
  • Impulse Control and how settling down can be reap greater rewards than jumping and barking.
  • Focus: Teach them to check-in with you, before something else grabs their attention.
  • Life Rewards. Anything your puppy loves can be a treat: balls, walks, play, etc.
  • Intermediate Manners: Build on your pup’s existing skills. Take sit, down, watch me, and loose-leash walking to the next level.
  • The Tuff Stuff: ‘Go to your mat,’ longer stays, ‘leave it,’ and more.
  • Rock Solid Recall
  • On & Off leash Work

Oh, and did we say you'll learn a lot too?
